WI ASLA Award of Excellence
This downtown pocket park, located on Madison's State Street, honors Elizabeth (Lisa) Link--an activist and key figure in reviving the Madison chapter of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. The park, once neglected and uninviting, is now home to downtown Madison's Visitor Center and invites enjoyment by all.
Programming is key to this project's success. Summer concerts, Madison's Night Market, and movie nights animate the space to draw in life and activity from State Street.
Landscape architectural services included planting design and custom site furnishing details.
Completed under the tenure of Saiki Design, Shane Bernau provided planting and custom site furnishing design. The project was constructed by Tri-North Builders. 'Philosopher Stones' artwork by Jill Sebastian. Architecture by MSA. Photography by Shane Bernau.
